Camp Connell, CA...We're "jazzing" things up at the Beer Garden at Camp Connell - with Jazz and Wine tasting! We'll have local wines and some special select wines, and of course Wood Fired pizzas, burgers, wings, and a special Pasta !( because apparently I'm the only one who thinks Beer and Pasta go together!) Since 1929 The Camp Connell General Store has been serving generation after generation of customers. New Owner Dan Tulipani and his family are excited to continue and expand on the rich fabric of history and traditions that have made the store an integral part of the community. With Dining, Wine, Beer, Gifts, Groceries & Gas they have everything you need to make your high country adventure a great one.

Jamestown, CA..Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) is looking for interested volunteers to help support THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride experiences that will be available this holiday season. Interested adult volunteers are encouraged to attend one of the Volunteer Open House events that are scheduled on two upcoming Saturdays – September 23 & 30, 2017 – from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Park. While no previous experience is necessary and training will be provided, volunteers will conduct a number of festive activities that include welcoming greeters, line monitoring, cocoa pouring and serving, hospitality support, story narrating and more (depending on their skills and areas of interest). Complimentary refreshments will be provided at the Volunteer Open House events and potential volunteers will have the opportunity to talk to the leads of the program who can answer questions and provide additional insight.

Arnold, CA...Don’t count us out. If the bridge on Blagen road is not in place, we will hold this event at Independence Hall Community Center. Ebbetts Pass Moose Lodge Car Show and Chili Cook Off. Car enthusiasts and Chili lovers bring the family to Arnold, CA, on Highway 4 across from White Pines Lake. There will be food and raffles, Chili tasting, and lots more. Admission is free. “Anything on Wheels” can be entered into the Car Show, even your Covered Wagon. Saturday, August 19, 11-3pm. Car Show entry donation is $20, Chili Cook Off entry donation is $10 per team. Those who want to taste Chili can get a tasters wrist band for $5 that includes tasting and a People’s Choice Award ballot. Car Show entries will be allowed day of show space permitting. Arnold, CA...Calaveras Big Trees Association Presents A Day in the Park on Saturday, August 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Bring your family and friends to a fun-filled afternoon of music by the local favorite, Magnolia Rhythm Trio.
