Murphys, CA....Over the weekend Ironstone Vineyards and and The Calaveras Enterprise presented a home festival featuring exhibits ranging from home construction and improvement to art, live music and wine tasting as well as a farmers market and ski equipment swap meet. The Chamber of Commerce had a beautiful display of famous Calaveras County painted frogs......

Lake Alpine has been dropping steadily ths past week. You can launch a small aluminum boat, kayak or canoe, but it would be difficult if not impossible to launch a larger boat. Fishing went from so so to red hot this past weekend as the weather has cooled and the fish are starting to move up. Fly fishermen have been catching the bigger fish. Zach Mahon, a 14 year old fly fisherman,caught a huge 6lb. 8oz. Rainbow on a woolly bugger. Zach caught the fish on Saturday while fishing from his float tube (Picture attached). Murphys, CA...It Was the Night Before Christmas…… The famed Teddy Bear Tea is returning to Murphys on November 23rd. Soroptimist International of Calaveras County is pleased to announce that once again, club members will be sponsoring the ever popular Teddy Bear Tea. The tea will be held at Kautz Ironstone Vineyards and will offer entertainment, Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, prizes and holiday music. Two seatings are offered for this very kid friendly seasonal event.
