Since cowboys are such an important part of the history and heritage of Calaveras County, the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the cowboy with a Barbecue Dinner and Dance. The National Day of the American Cowboy.....

The Calaveras Children’s Repertory Theatre Presented an Outstanding Performance of “Beauty and the Beast” ~By Hanna Alldrin

Angels Camp, CA.....Over 50 aspiring young actors and actresses took to the stage this Saturday for an outstanding performance of "Beauty and the Beast." There were two performances on Saturday at the Bret Harte Theatre. The first showing was at 2pm and the second was held at 7pm, both performances had a full house. Walt Disney's 1991 instant classic film, Beauty and the Beast, is not only the finest animated movie ever made, but deserves an all thumbs up for the transition from screen to theatre. Talented director Ann Mazzaferro did an beautiful job inspiring her students and introducing the magic of theatre. For the past several weeks the Calaveras County Children's Repertory Theatre students have been learning, reciting, and rehearsing for their lines for the Disney musical production.......

Calaveras County, CA...Calaveras County author Sal Manna will autograph his new book, “The King of Sting: The Amazing True Story of a Modern American Outlaw,” a true crime biography penned with its subject, Craig Glazer, on Friday, August 1, from 5-7 p.m. at the Ice Cream Depot in the Historic Valley Springs Train Depot (corner of Hwys. 12 and 26). Recently #1 in True Crime Biographies on Amazon.com, the book has been called “a high-flying, adrenaline-filled story”....

Greetings from Flaming Gorge Utah....When my sister, Peggy, and brother-in-law, John, suggested that we camp at Flaming Gorge I was somewhat hesitant. I had visions of sleeping on the hard earth in a crowded tent, taking a sponge bath around the ol’ campfire, cooking on a camp stove, what a challenge that is, and seeing campsite after campsite with laundry hung over a cord stretched between two trees, ice chests lined up in rows, dilapidated wooden picnic tables full of fishing poles, food staples, and board games, just like the times I camped with my family growing up. Boy was I in for a treat!....

Angels Camp, The Calaveras Children’s Repertory Theatre will be presenting two performances only of “Beauty and the Beast” on Saturday, July 26 at the Bret Harte Theatre in Angels Ca and scripts during the first half of the practice.mp. Tickets will be available at the door. Show times are 2:00 and 7:00. The entire cast is made up of local children between the ages of 5 and 18. Walt Disney's 1991 instant classic film, Beauty and the Beast, is not only the finest animated movie ever made, but deserves an all thumbs up for the transition from screen to theatre. Ann Mazzaferro is proudly directing the cast.....
