"The Dodge Brothers" Lecture at Angels Camp Museum |
Posted by: thepinetree on 11/05/2017 07:30 AM
|
Angels Camp, CA...Donn Marinovich has a history in Tuolumne County as a General Contractor but his passion lies with the study and preservation of vintage Dodge Brothers Trucks. Marinovich is an officer of the Northern California Dodge Brothers & Sisters, a chapter of the worldwide Dodge Brothers Club that was founded in 1983 and is dedicated to the research and preservation of Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicles and Graham Brothers Commercial Vehicles 1914-1938. Donn Marinovich and his wife Sherrin are also the proud owners of a family heirloom 1923 Dodge Business/Commercial Truck that Donn personally restored between 1995 and 2000. Marinovich's talk will focus on the history of the Dodge Brothers company including some insight into the mysteries of the original company logo. He has also promised some interesting information on the Dodge Brothers/American La France Chemical Fire Truck once used by the Angels Camp Volunteer Fire Department, now preserved in the Museum’s Carriage House.

Murphys Day of the Dead Celebration featuring Donner Party Zinfandel at Newsome Harlow |
Posted by: thepinetree on 11/02/2017 03:45 PM
|
Murphys, CA...Come join us as businesses and tasting rooms in Murphys celebrate Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead on November 4th, 2017. Up and down Main Street you will find authentic cultural art, food, sugar skulls, face painters, live music and altars dedicated to those who have passed on. We at Newsome Harlow will be displaying an alter dedicated to the Donner Party. Not only because it is the name of one of our Single Vineyard Zinfandels, but because there is a historical link between our little town of Murphys and the ill-fated group. A decendent of the Donner Party, Virginia Reed, ended up marrying one of Murphys' founding fathers, John Murphy. A little history lesson for you all...
