Murphys, CA...The Holiday Festival of Wines is an annual event that takes place in conjunction with Murphys Open House – an evening where everything else stops in the quiet town of Murphys, the street closes and the community comes together to celebrate the season. There will be live music in the streets, roasting chestnuts, a parade and so much more. The Festival of Wines extends this warm and and enchanting evening over an entire weekend and includes exclusive tastings, holiday gift specials and food and wine pairings from more than 20 award-winning Calaveras wineries.

Murphys, CA...Every year on the first Friday in December, Murphys celebrates the start of the holiday season with a community Open House from 5 to 8 pm on Historic Main Street. Admission is free, the streets are closed to traffic and we are ready to celebrate the winter holidays. Chestnuts will be roasting, carolers will be singing, and Santa will be visiting! A favorite of locals, the annual event is an old-fashioned celebration featuring a parade, holiday treats and entertainment hosted by Main Street merchants, restaurants, wineries and the Murphys Business Association. Santa arrives with the parade and stays for photos with the kids in the Native Sons Hall. Bring your phone or camera to snap a picture. The New Horizon Band will be providing music in the Native Sons Hall and Road Trip Espresso will be offering hot drinks for sale nearby.

Avery, CA...Every year the Avery Community Christmas tree is a welcoming beacon of holiday spirit to everyone who travels up Hwy 4. On Friday evening one of the largest crowds we have seen was on hand as they counted down to the official lighting. On Friday, November 24, 2017 at 5:30 pm the refreshments, caroling (cookies and coffee/hot chocolate) welcomed the crowd. They mixed and mingled until the Tree lighting ceremony at 6:00 pm. Santa Claus made an appearance and was available for pictures with the kids.

Angels Camp, CA...Angels Camp residents and community leaders, Anne Forrest and Bob Fienberg will be the Grand Marshal in the 27th annual Angels Camp Parade of Lights Nov. 25 beginning at 5 p.m. in historic downtown Angels Camp’s Main Street. “We’re really excited that Anne and Bob will be honored for all the volunteer work they have given the community over the years by being our Grand Marshal this year,” said Marilyn Smith, secretary of Angels Camp Business Association and this year’s Christmas coordinator. ACBA annually hosts the parade and the Angels Holiday Open House the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Bear Valley, CA...Bear Valley Mountain Open for Food, Drinks, Retail, Repair and Guest Services. The slopes need a little more help from Mother Nature so we will not be opening lifts this weekend, however, there will be lots of fun to have on and off the mountain. Come for breakfast or lunch at the Ebbetts Grill on the mountain, visit the season pass office, Reba Sports retail store, the repair shop and we’ll have a climbing wall and holiday ornament decorating for the kids!
