New Melones Fishing Report for November 25th, 2009~provided to us by Glory Hole Sports

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 11/25/2009 05:20 PM
Trout: WOW! It is time to come fishing at Melones! We are seeing some gorgeous rainbows (many weighing over three pounds) caught from shore, as well as by trollers. In addition to the great holdovers that are being caught, the DFG has started regular plantings of catchable-sized rainbows- many of these are bigger than normal, too. Angels Cove and Glory Hole Cove have been good, and Tuttletown has produced some fish, too. Fish are coming into the shallows, so target 5-25 feet of water. Use Berkley rainbow or chartreuse glitter Power Bait, Power Eggs, or a crawler/marshmallow combo. ......

Winter has come and the gates are now closed for the winter. You can still fish at Lake Alpine, but you will now need a Snow Park Pass and you will have a small hike to the lake. For the few that do venture to the Lake, fishing has been excellent It has been a great fishing season, with some beautiful big fish caught. WHITE PINES IS BACK ON THE PLANT LIST FOR NEXT YEAR. As part of a recent ruling White Pines Lake located in Arnold has been put back on the plant list for next year. The news came after an extensive EIR report completed by the Dept. of Fish & Game. We appreciate all the the efforts made by our Fish & Game as they had to jump through hoops to get the EIR completed this year.....

Fishing Report for New Melones Week of October 26th, 2009~by Glory Hole Sports

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 10/27/2009 12:14 AM
Trout: Trout are feeding heavily on the small threadfin shad that are so plentiful in the lake right now. It's time to tie on a small minnow under a bobber and head to the mouths of any of the creeks. Throwing a small silver spoon is another good choice. The rainbows are starting to move up, as the water temperature cools down. Anglers with boats have had success still-fishing way upriver or up in the creek arms. Trolling has been picking up, and the trout are moving shallower. Troll anywhere from the surface to 50 feet.....

Arnold, CA...Lake Alpine has been producing some beautiful rainbows this past week. Tristen, an 8 year old caught an impressive 7lb rainbow. Kevin and John, two of our local young men also had a field day catching a limit of beautiful rainbows with the largest coming in at almost 3 lbs. The ramp is out of the water, so if you have a large boat it will be very tough to launch without doing damage to your boat and trailer....

What a weekend. Our first snow storm this past weekend closed Ebbetts Pass Saturday night. It re-opened Sunday morning. Since it has cooled down the fishing has been excellent. Lake Alpine has been producing some beautiful rainbows this past week. The ramp is almost out of the water, so if you have a large boat it will be very tough to launch without doing damage to your boat and trailer.....
