Denver, CO....The Democratic National Convention started last evening. Tonights Theme was " Renewing America’s Promise." "Millions of Americans are struggling to get by. The failed policies of the last eight years have betrayed the country’s values and left an economy out of balance. Barack Obama believes a strong economy is unattainable with a weak middle class. Tuesday’s Convention program will feature the voices of Americans who share Barack’s concerns and strongly support his detailed economic plan to grow the economy, create jobs, restore fairness, and expand opportunity." Hollywood, CA....Today at the 26th Annual Border Governors Conference, a joint declaration was reached among the 10 U.S. and Mexican Border States that fosters a renewed commitment to reducing border wait times and improving the secure movement of people, goods and services across the United States-Mexico border. Ten border states are participating in the conference, including California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas from the United States and the Mexican states of Baja California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Sonora and Tamaulipas. .....

Comedian Bernie Mac Has Passed Away at 50

Chicago, IL...Comedian Bernie Mac Bernard Jeffrey McCullough (October 5, 1957 – August 9, 2008) has passed away in Chicago from complications from P. Bernie Mac was hospitalized with pneumonia on August 1, 2008 and the following day, a source close to the family said that Mac was in "very, very critical" condition. He was recovering from pneumonia, most likely brought on by his sarcoidosis, in a Chicago hospital. His publicist, Danica Smith, said that he was expected to make a full recovery and that he was responding well to treatment. Mac had suffered from sarcoidosis, a tissue inflammation disease, since 1983. He had said that it had no effect on his daily life....

Mariposa, CA...Yesterday Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger joined the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Essential Mariposa, CA...Access Interim Bridge Project, opening State Route 140 (SR-140) to all vehicles. Prior to yesterday, vehicles longer than 28 feet, including tour buses, school buses and some emergency vehicles could not access this main all weather route into Yosemite National Park. "These new bridges mean that Yosemite tour buses, school buses, delivery trucks and emergency vehicles will have the access they need to ensure economic prosperity, public safety and normal daily life in this community," said Governor Schwarzenegger. "Finishing ahead of schedule and in time for the July 4th weekend, this is great news for area residents and to Californians planning to visit this national treasure."...
