Area Players Encouraged to Enter MACTA Mixed Doubles Tennis Tournament
Murphys, CA...Tennis players from throughout the Motherlode are invited to sign up for the Murphys Area Community Tennis Association (MACTA) Mixed Doubles Tournament to be held Saturday, October 14th at Bret Harte High School, in Angels Camp, and MACTA’s Wintercreek Facility located behind the historic schoolhouse on Jones St. in Murphys. Entry deadline is October 11th, but those interested in taking part are encouraged to enter as soon as possible.

The tournament is open to players of all ages and abilities. Tennis enthusiasts can enter by contacting the tournament director, Jim Triolo, by phone, 795-3183, or by email, jimtriolo22@gmail.com. There will be two flights determined by the ability level of the players entered.

Players enter as individuals and will be paired with a partner based on ability. They will be notified by email of their check-in time and court location.

A round-robin tournament, preliminary matches will be played at both locations. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. The finals will take place around 1:30 p.m. at the Murphys courts. Tournament rules will be those of the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

Prizes will be awarded to winners and runners-up in each flight.

The entry fee is $20 per player, plus a can of balls. The event is a fundraiser to help MACTA maintain the Wintercreek Facility, to sponsor youth and adult clinics, and to continue to promote tennis in Murphys and the surrounding communities.

During lunchtime, MACTA will have food and beverages, including beer and wine, for purchase in Murphys.

MACTA was formed in the autumn of 2010 to channel the interests and efforts of the many tennis players in the greater Murphys area. It is a community tennis association affiliated with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and has 501(c) 3 non-profit status.

MACTA is designed to welcome tennis players of all ages and all skill levels. Anyone wishing to join can do so by making an annual donation of at least $25. Contributions can be sent to PO Box 344, Murphys CA 95247.
