Calaveras County Sheriff Volunteer Recruitment Event on September 27 at Murphy’s Community Park |
Murphys, CA...In late July 2021, the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office participated in a community meeting in Murphy’s Park. One of the topics of conversation was the need for more volunteers. Since then, members from the Murphy’s Business Association and Sheriff’s Office have held additional meetings regarding the enhancement of safety in the Murphy’s area and offered to host a volunteer recruitment event in the Murphy’s Park.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Volunteer Unit seeks individuals who are willing to give back to their community as a volunteer. Sheriff's Volunteers are a group of individuals who support the Sheriff's Office by working the county substations, conducting house checks, working special events, tackling many routine tasks, while freeing up paid deputies by saving county resources for other essential needs. You will often see the volunteers at parades, the county fair, and other events. In addition to traffic control and crowd safety, the volunteers also take some of the paperwork burdens off the Sheriff's Office staff, offering a cost-effective yet secure means of sharing the workload.
The Sheriff’s Office also supports a Volunteer Search and Rescue Team. As a volunteer arm of the Sheriff’s Office, the Search and Rescue Team is the primary team responsible for searching for people who have become lost or injured in off-road and rural areas of Calaveras County. The team is trained for high-angle, swift-water, command post duties, radio communications, and avalanche rescue. They respond in every type of weather and the most difficult terrain environments. The Search and Rescue Team is part of the California Mutual Aid System and assists other California counties when officially requested. No experience is necessary.
Interested persons are encouraged to join us in Murphys Park on September 27, 2021, at 5:30 PM to learn more about the various Volunteer programs at the Sheriff's Office or call Lieutenant Greg Stark (209) 754-6783 for more information. 09/22/2021 Starts at 05:30 PM |
