Tickets Still Available for John McCutcheon and Red Tail Ring Concert in Angels Camp on Thursday, Ja
Angels Camp, CA...Tickets are still available for the Thursday, January 9, 2020, Angels Camp performance by multiple Grammy Award-nominated musician, storyteller and author John McCutcheon and his special guests, Red Tail Ring. The performance will be held at the Dr. Elliott A. Smart Performing Arts Center at Bret Harte Union High School on Highway 49 beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Whether in print, on record, or on stage, people connect with John McCutcheon’s versatility, charm, wit and pure talent. “Foothill Conservancy introduced John to this area in 1992, and we’re looking forward to hosting him for the first time in Angels Camp,” said Foothill Conservancy Executive Director Sherry Pease. “Local audiences really enjoy his shows.”

A Wisconsin native and Georgia resident, McCutcheon spent years immersing himself in the traditional music of the southern Appalachian Mountains. He is one of the country’s most respected and loved folksingers and a master of a dozen different traditional instruments, from the banjo to the hammer dulcimer. His songwriting has been hailed by critics and singers around the globe. McCutcheon’s 40 recordings have garnered every imaginable honor, and his commitment to grassroots organizing has put him on the front lines of many important issues, from supporting

Wisconsin teachers to opposing environmentally destructive Alaskan mining proposals.
McCutcheon is best known for his captivating live performances. As the late Pete Seeger said, “John McCutcheon is not only one of the best musicians in the USA, but also a great singer, songwriter, and song leader.” Johnny Cash called him, “The most impressive instrumentalist I’ve ever heard.” Describing his stories, the Washington Post said, “He has an uncanny ability to breathe new life into the familiar. His storytelling has the richness of fine literature.”
People of every generation and background feel at home when John McCutcheon takes the stage, with what critics describe as “little feats of magic,” “breathtaking in their ease and grace...,” and “like a conversation with an illuminating old friend.” His performances feature original and traditional songs with the profound mark of place, family, and strength, along with stories told in a style that's been compared to Will Rogers and Garrison Keillor.
Red Tail Ring is the duo of Laurel Premo and Michael Beauchamp. They create lush, intricate arrangements of original folk music and traditional ballads with banjo, fiddle, guitar, and close harmonies. American Roots UK called them, “The very best of the 21st century’s minimalist and highly original folk music . . . a peerless duo.”

Tickets to the show are $30 in advance and $35 the day of the show, $15 in advance for children 12 and under, $20 day of the show. Tickets are on sale at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4437325, at the Manzanita Arts Emporium in Angels Camp, and at the Foothill Conservancy’s Jackson office at 35 Court Street, Suite 1 (call first, 209-223-3508). The concert is a 30th anniversary benefit for the Foothill Conservancy.
