Free On-line Grant Writing Workshop
Auburn, CA...The Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) is hosting a three-day intensive workshop to build grant writing skills for organizations and agencies in the Sierra Nevada region. This workshop is for community, nonprofit, and local government representatives who would like to learn how to prepare effective grant applications.
This workshop is geared to beginning (no experience) and intermediate (moderate grant writing) individuals. The workshop will cover the basics of grant writing and program development, including:
• How to make your application as competitive as possible
• Basic program development for effective grant writing
• The eight standard parts of a grant application
• How to create a work plan and budget spreadsheet
The workshop will be held on-line over three consecutive days: January 24th, 25th, and 26th, 2024. Each day’s instruction will start at 8:45 am and end around 12:30. Please reserve the entire day on Days 1 and 2; you’ll be expected to put in 3-4 hours those afternoons working on your writing assignments. You will need a computer with a video camera, a quiet place to work, and a good internet connection. Class materials and connection instructions will be sent out in advance.

Give Life Saving Blood on Jan. 24, 2023, at the Calaveras Community Blood Drive
San Andreas, CA...Post-holiday blood shortages have created a crisis and your blood donations are needed more than ever this month. If you are a returning donor or a first-time donor, you can help save lives by donating on Jan. 24, 2023. The Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) and Vitalant continue to partner to collect lifesaving blood. Blood donated ensures that blood is available when it is needed. Your help is needed and it’s as simple as making an appointment to donate blood. The donation process is easy and only takes approximately an hour to complete.
Preparing for your donation is simple: first make an appointment by going to donors.vitalant.org and use blood drive code SMFM399 or scan the QR code below. You can also call 877-258-4825 to make an appointment.
On the day of your donation be sure to bring your photo I.D., eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water. Donors must be 16 years or older, 16-year-old donors need to have a signed Vitalant parent consent form.
The Calaveras Community Foundation is proud to sponsor and support the Calaveras Community blood drives. The CCF understands the importance of giving back to the community. The CCF has provided over $3,000,000 in competitive grants, scholarships, and assistance since 2000.

VFW Post 2600 Dinner
VFW Post 2600, 156 W. St. Charles St, San Andreas is hosting Dinner on Tuesday, January 24th at 6:00 pm. We’ll be serving Chicken Fried Steak, Potatoes, Veggies, Salad, Bread and Dessert. Cost for dinner is $15.00 each, $14.00 for Veterans and Free for World War II Veterans. Please call the VFW Post at 209-754-3916 to make your dinner reservations by Saturday, January 21st.
