Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Community Foundation is seeking applicants for its 2022 competitive grant process. Any project submitted by a qualified applicant will be considered. A wide variety of projects is being sought, but because of new funding sources available this year, special emphasis will also be placed on applications addressing food scarcity, mental health issues and substance abuse education and prevention.

Non-profit groups, schools and government agencies in Calaveras County are encouraged to focus on that special project that could make a difference in people’s lives, or make changes benefitting the county or groups.

The application period is from July 1, 2022 through July 31, 2022. Applications will only be accepted via email: info@calaverascommunityfoundation.org

Complete details, application guidelines and fillable forms are now available in the “Grants and Scholarships” area of the CCF website: www.calaverascommunityfoundation.org

All Day CSTARS Presents Annie July 22 - 24 in Angels Camp
Angels Camp, CA...Based on the popular comic strip, Annie tells the extraordinary story of a little orphan who ends up in the lap of luxury with Depression-era billionaire Oliver Warbucks, and his secretary, Grace Farrell. Unlike most of the other children at Miss Hannigan's orphanage, spunky Annie believes that her parents are still alive and will one day return to claim her. So when Mr. Warbucks offers to adopt her, she asks the most powerful man in America to help find her real mom and dad instead, and he agrees. Warbucks' whopping reward for Annie's parents attracts the attention of con artists Rooster, Lily, and the wicked Miss Hannigan, who hatch a plot to kidnap Annie and take the $50,000 reward. But don't fret: this classic family musical has a happy ending for Annie, Grace, Daddy Warbucks, and the whole gang.

The stage went dark for a few years. But...the sun will come out tomorrow! Join 30+ talented CSTARS actors as they present their first performance back from the COVID shutdown and come support the arts in Calaveras County.

One weekend only! July 22, 2022 - July 24, 2022

02:00 PM The T Sisters at the Bear Valley Music Festival Today at 2PM
Bear Valley, CA...Distinguished by close harmonies, catchy melodies and potent lyricism, the T Sisters have created a refreshing brew of indie-folk/Americana music. Blood sisters Erika, Rachel and Chloe Tietjen flow seamlessly between styles and moods, from roots to pop and sassy to sincere, captivating listeners with their eclectic sound and soaring harmonies.

This past spring, the T’s journeyed to Nashville to create a compelling EP with renowned artist/producer Oliver Wood of The Wood Brothers. While T Sisters’ prior releases delved into personal themes, this project represents a more mature and reflective chapter for the sisters, exploring deeper subjects of societal division, dubious authority, spiritual renewal and activism through music. Adding to the T Sisters’ self-accompaniment and inimitable sibling harmonies, We Are Bound features the distinctive playing of Jano Rix (The Wood Brothers), Chris Wood (The Wood Brothers; Medeski, Martin and Wood) and Oliver himself. Oliver says of the T’s, “Coming from a brother band, I especially appreciate the T Sisters. The soul of the family comes through their combined voices, and they create that sound that only family can get.

T Sisters were chosen for American Music Abroad, a selective State Department-sponsored program fostering diplomacy through music. The sisters performed and conducted workshops in the Middle East and North Africa emphasizing girls empowerment and the power of music to create social awareness and change.

In the last few years, they’ve been honored to support such acts as The Indigo Girls, Amos Lee, The Wood Brothers, Todd Rundgren, Elephant Revival, The California Honeydrops, and more. Notable performances include Outside Lands, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Merlefest Album Hour, High Sierra Music Festival, Americana Music Association Festival, Music City Roots, and Garrison Keillor’s ‘A Prairie Home Companion.’
