Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) Sponsors Vitalant Blood Drive and Supermarket Challenge on Tues
San Andreas, CA...Blood donations are currently at a critical level and all blood types are needed! Vitalant (formerly Blood Source) is hosting the Calaveras Community Blood Drive on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 1:00-6:00 PM. Location: San Andreas Town Hall, 24 Church Hill Road, San Andreas, CA. This event is sponsored by Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF).
How can you help? Start donating blood! Donating blood is easy and the entire donation process takes about one hour with the actual blood donation taking about 5-7 minutes. The blood collected at each blood drive helps support local hospitals and Calaveras County patients.
To prepare for your blood donation you will need to bring a photo ID, eat a healthy meal, and drink plenty of water. It is recommended that you make an on-line appointment by going to: donors.vitalant.org and use blood drive code SMFM399. Or you may call Vitalant at 877-258-4825. Advance appointments are encouraged to help maintain social distancing. All donors are required to wear a mask or face covering.
Since donations have been lagging, Calaveras Community Foundation has set up a friendly competition, a Supermarket Challenge, between our local Calaveras County grocery stores. This involves seeing how many of the stores’ employees and customers can and will donate blood on November 30th. It is hoped that the donor rate will go up substantially because of this competition. Every store (more than 10) has the information about how this will work. There is already a lot of excitement and interest.
Direct any questions to Terry Beaudoin, Calaveras Community Foundation Board Member and Blood Drive Coordinator, at (209) 772-9145 (home) or
(209) 652-6618 (cell).
Remember -Because of you, life doesn’t stop!
