All Day Prescribed Fire Fuels Reductions Continue
Wilseyville, CA...The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is conducting a prescribed burning operation on the Winton-Schaad Vegetation Management Plan (VMP) site. This project is in the North-Eastern portion of Calaveras County, four miles north of Wilseyville near Winton Road. Smoke may be visible in the area during the prescribed burn. This prescribed burn is designed to reduce forest fuels in strategic locations within the project area.

Yesterday CAL FIRE TCU did 13.44 acres of prescribed burning at the Winton-Schaad VMP

The prescribed burn is scheduled to begin on April 6, 2021 and will conclude on April 8, 2021. Additional prescribed burns within the project area are anticipated throughout the winter and spring, depending upon fuel and weather conditions. Resources assigned to the VMP will consist of two engines, one fire crew, and cooperating agencies.

Burning operations will be conducted from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day, contingent on favorable conditions.

All Day 2021 Butte Fire Recovery Projects Whiskey Slide Road, Mountain Ranch Through April 23rd
San Andreas, CA...From March 29 to April 23, 2021 there will be up to 15 minute traffic delays to accommodate Phase 1 of the roadway drainage upgrades on Whiskey Slide Road. Crews will be replacing and installing new drainage culverts at several locations along Whiskey Slide Road.

Culvert work will take place north west of the intersection of Whiskey Slide Road and West Murray Creek Road and continue to the northwest on Whiskey Slide Road.

Crews will be active weekdays during the daylight hours of 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM. There will be construction equipment on site and due to the narrow nature of the existing roadway there will be significant delays up to 15 minutes. Motorists are urged to use caution in the area.

Please observe all traffic control signs and instructions of onsite personnel. Contact Calaveras County Public Works Department at (209) 754-6401 if you have any questions regarding this project.
