All Day Winter Rivalry Week 2023
Angels Camp, CA...(January 30th to Feb 3rd) — Starting January 30th, Bret Harte High School will be holding its Winter Rivalry Week. This event is being held to give students an opportunity to support their school’s basketball team. The game will be held at Calaveras High School on February 3rd. Dress up days and a full week of lunchtime activities provide a way for students to display their creativity and support their school in preparation for the big game.


During the last week of January, students will be encouraged to dress in accordance to each of the dress up days. The themes are as follows:

• Monday(Jan 30): 90s vs 2000s
• Tuesday(Jan 31): Blackout vs Whiteout
• Wednesday(Feb 1): Past vs Future
• Thursday(Feb 2): Farmers vs Lawyers
• Friday(Feb 3):Gold vs Purple

Rivalry week will conclude with a rally at 2:30pm on Friday(Feb 3)to hype up students for the Rivalry week basketball game where Bret Harte will play against Calaveras High School the same day (Feb 3) from 6pm-8:45pm .

All Day Calaveras County Disaster Recovery Center Opens Feb. 1 at Angels Camp
Angels Camp, CA...A Disaster Recovery Center will open Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Angels Camp, where residents who were affected by the severe storms and flooding can update your FEMA applications and learn about state and community programs and other available assistance. The Calaveras County center is located at: Calaveras County Fairgrounds (Frogtown). Mark Twain Hall, 2465 Gunclub Road, Angels Camp, CA 95222. Hours of operation: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.


Specialists at the recovery center can clarify information you have received from FEMA or other agencies; they can explain the rental assistance available to homeowners and renters; and they can fax your requested documents to a FEMA processing center and scan or copy new information or documents needed for case files.

Residents who had uninsured or underinsured damage and losses resulting from the severe storms and flooding are encouraged to apply to FEMA, although you do not need to visit a Disaster Recovery Center to apply. Here are other ways to apply:

Go to DisasterAssistance.gov, use the FEMA mobile app or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. If you use video relay service (VRS), captioned telephone service or others, give FEMA the number for that service. Helpline operators are available from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Press 2 for Spanish. During American Heart Month in February testing is available at Mark Twain Medical Center to help local women monitor their heart health. Make time any weekday in February for a Comprehensive Lipid Panel test. It can help identify chronic and new conditions like cholesterol numbers and other risk factors.


It's simple. To get your Lipid Panel Test bring your Photo ID to the MTMC Laboratory Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. You must start fasting 12 hours prior to your visit for accurate results.

This program is made possible by funding from Soroptimist International of Calaveras County as part of their commitment to women's health.
