All Day Crossing California, Sierra to the Sea, October 8 through November 26 at Petroglyphe
Mokelumne Hill, CA...Crossing California, Sierra to the Sea, Dale Laitinen. Reception - Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 2-5 pm. Exhibition runs October 8 through November 26, 2017 At Petroglyphe Gallery 8317 Main Street, Mokelumne Hill Crossing California, Sierra to the Sea is a celebration of Dale Laitinen's favorite places seen while crisscrossing the great state of California.  Laitinen states, "Twenty years ago my wife and I chose Mountain Ranch, uprooting home, studio, family and pets to a beautiful place tucked away in Calaveras County.  The now infamous Butte Fire swept through our area and destroyed all that we had built for those years.  Crossing California is a rising from the ashes exhibit as a way of moving forward from catastrophe."

In this exhibition, Dale Laitinen has chosen a multi medium way of depicting varied landscapes, employing water media, acrylics, and oils. He states, “Although my theme remains constant, my technical use of mediums is as diverse as California. Expect scenes of Tahoe, Yosemite and other Northern California locales…but also be prepared for some surprises.”

When Laitinen returns home to Northern California after traveling, teaching, and observing all over the country and abroad, he sighs in appreciation for all that is offered in this magnificent area. This is easily detected in the predominant subject matter of his work.

Dale Laitinen is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society and Watercolor West. He is a past juror of many national and regional exhibitions including Watercolor West, Kentucky Watercolor Society, Utah Watercolor Society, Watercolor Society of Oregon, Red River Watermedia Show, Magnum Opus and numerous others. Some of the periodicals featuring him have been Southwest Art Magazine, The Artist’s Magazine, Watercolor Magic, Watercolor Magazine, and Drawingboard Magazine.

Marisa Chaffey and Denise Ebbett, owners of Petroglyphe Gallery share, “It has been an honor to represent Dale Laitinen and his fine art since our opening in 2011.This exhibit is an opportunity for Mr. Laitinen to share his newest collection since the Butte Fire. We look forward to unveiling these stunning works, which showcase his talent for both Sierra landscapes and Coastal landscapes.”

Reception and Demonstration at Petroglyphe Gallery, Sunday, October 8, 2017, from 2-5pm. Watch artist Dale Laitinen at work and visit with him to learn more about his process and the inspiration behind his new collection.

Wine and cheese will be served. There will be a free drawing for a $50 Gift Certificate to the gallery.
