Calaveras Grape Stomp Celebrates 19th Anniversary

STOMP TEAM RESERVATIONS OPEN!

Interested in being part of the Calaveras Grape Stomp history? Call now 209/754-0127 or visit www.CalaverasGrapeStomp.com to reserve your team and celebrate one of the most anticipated events in the region, drawing large, loud crowds and scores of stomp teams, many festooned in original costume. The cost is $50 per team.

Last year, besides partaking of the usual great food, wine, great live and silent auction, and kid's activities, Stomp goers witnessed another fierce competition between teams vying for the title of the Calaveras Grape Stomp Champion. Stomp Teams are composed of two persons, one inside a half barrel filled with 25 pounds of grapes, another outside the barrel reaching in to ensure a smooth flow of juice out the drain spot. It's a sticky business for all concerned.

The results are weighed and heat winners and wildcard teams advance to the championship rounds.

The Winery Stomp will be held at 11:00. This is your chance to see Wineries compete for the President's Trophy.

It's a great day for the family. At the same time the Calaveras Grape Stomp is on, the Gold Rush Street Faire is happening, with over 100 quality vendors of all sorts stretching from one end of Main Street to the other. Food, art, crafts, knick-knacks of every description – it will all be there.

Make plans now to visit Murphys this October 6 and be there for all the fun, excitement, food, wine, and a great silent auction this year.
