01:30 PM "Cinema & the Angels 6 Theatre," A Lecture By Jeff Olson
Angels Camp, CA...The Mother Lode Theatre celebrated its grand opening on February 9, 1924 with a miniature review accompanied by a five-piece orchestra. The Theatre was remodeled in 1927 to accommodate "talkies" or moving pictures. It was again remodeled in 1935 and the name eventually was changed to Angels Theatre as it remains today.

Come hear about early cinema and how it changed with World War II. Jeff will also give a general overview of the theatre and how important it was, and still is, to this community's economy.

Located on a 3-acre site of the historic Angels Quartz Mine, the Angels Camp Museum dedicates collections to inspire understanding of the gold country history of Angels Camp and the Mother Lode region. We create opportunities for learning, discovery and bring to life the extraordinary stories of our country’s past.

Home to one of the largest collections of carriages and wagons in the nation, Angels Camp Museum is a destination. Take a walk in this historical park to explore both indoor and outdoor exhibits on Gold Rush-era mining, ranching, medicine; artisan interactive displays including a print shop, weaving loom, and carpenter's shop; as well as a Mark Twain exhibit.

02:00 PM 9th Annual Taste For Mentoring ~ Dessert Contest & Antique Auto Show
Sonora,CA...A Taste for Mentoring is a dessert contest showcasing creations from our county’s finest restaurants as a fund raiser for the Mentoring Works program.

Mentoring Works matches caring adults in our community with at risk children under the guidance of the Amador Tuolumne Community Action Agency.

A Taste for Mentoring Dessert Contest and Antique Auto Show will be held Sunday, April 2 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge at 100 Elks Drive off of Shaws Flat Road in Sonora. Admission is $20 per person.

Restaurants and caterers participating in the dessert competition are Chef Dave Cooks, Columbia Kate’s Bakery, Country Faire, Seven Sisters at Black Oak Casino, and more fun treats.
The desserts will be tasted and rated by a panel of judges. There will also be an opportunity for those in attendance to vote for a “People’s Choice.”

Our Judging Panel will be led by Marcia VanSwoll. Marcia VanSwoll founded Gold Rush Gourmet Personal Chef Services and also served as a mentor with Mentoring Works.

Those in attendance can enjoy live music from Blue Shoes and the Auxiliary Ukulele Orchestra. Guests can win one of the delicious cakes donated by Tuolumne County vendors in a traditional cake walk held throughout the event.
Safari Smiles Dental is sponsoring a table of sugar free treat at the event.

Returning this year is an antique car show sponsored by the Sonora Model A’s Club and the Antique Automobiles of America.

“We have enjoyed tremendous support from the community for our Silent Auction and from our business sponsors,” Elena Linehan, ATCAA’s Youth and Family Program Director, said. “We especially thank our sponsors Black Oak Casino, Blue Mountain Mineral, Oak Valley Bank, Sonora Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, the Union Democrat, and KVML/KZSQ/KKBN and My Motherlode.com.”

Event organizers can be contacted at ATCAA at 533-1397 ext. 297.
