TERMS & CONDITIONS:
All Day New Hogan Vegetation Management Project (VMP)
San Andreas, CA...California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit will be completing hazardous fuel reduction pile burning in the vicinity of Highway 26 and Hogan Dam Road within the community of Rancho Calaveras in Calaveras County throughout the week of January 31st, 2022.


The treatment area encompasses approximately 200 acres of machine piles in three separate units created during Heavy Fire Equipment Operator Training conducted during the Spring of 2021. Weather conditions are forecasted to be favorable for ignition of these piles.

The burn is anticipated to begin between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and is expected to last 6 to 8 hours. The public may see smoke or fire during these times between Highway 26 and Hogan Dam Road. CAL FIRE Personnel will patrol all piles ignited until all are declared out.

All Day Whittle Vegetation Management Plan Prescribed Burn .
San Andreas, CA...The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will conduct a prescribed burn and training in Calaveras County on Tuesday, February 1,2022. The Fuel Reduction prescribed burn will be on top of the Bear Mountain Range near the Fowler Peak lookout just outside of Copperopolis. The primary purpose of the prescribed burn is to reduce brush in the housing community of Bar XX. The other purpose is to conduct an Aerial Ignition Training with the Helitorch utilizing the staff from the Columbia Air Attack Base.


The prescribed burn will reduce hazardous fuel loading within the project area, and smoke will be visible from Angels Camp, Highway 49 and Highway 4. Resources assigned to the VMP will consist of a helicopter, fire engines, and fire crews.

Burning will be conducted from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. contingent on weather conditions and Calaveras County Air Pollution Control approval.
