WHITE OUT - An Uplifting Party to Help Raise Funds for an Accessible Vehicle for Char Vine • Octob
Murphys, CA...In an effort to help Char Vine regain her independence after a major spine reconstruction surgery, Char, HelpHOPELive and her supporters are announcing the first fundraising event, White Out to be held on October 28, 2017 at Outer Aisle Venue, 164 Highway 4, Murphys, CA. A VIP reception will be held for those sponsoring the event from 4:20-5:00pm. Doors open to the public at 5:00pm. A tasty, fresh farm-to fork dinner will be served by Outer Aisle Catering from 5:00-8:00pm. Track 7 Brewing and Two Rivers Cider will be on tap and Boyle MacDonald Wines and Ayrael View will be pouring all night. There are beautiful silent auction items coming in from sponsors all over the area that will make perfect holiday gifts to give when packaged up if you don’t want them for yourself. The silent auction will be held 5:00-9:00pm and then there will also be smaller auctions and raffles throughout the night. Freedom Fighta Sound will be spinning reggae music until 9:00pm. Then get ready to dance into the night to the live funked up music by Janktones. Char will be giving an inspiring presentation about her journey and will share about her future goals and there will be pumpkin decorating for the kids.

###

Char Vine sustained a spinal cord injury in 2000 from a snowboarding accident in Bear Valley that left her paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair. Over the last six years, she has been hospitalized over a dozen times from complications that ensued from hardware that was installed incorrectly in her back. By 2016 her body had become deformed and her spine had degenerated so severely that some of the hardware pulled out of the bone and started causing great damage inside her body. It left her bed bound and helpless for months. She opted for a high risk, extremely complicated surgery to rebuild her spine at the end of December 2016 to try and get some quality of life back. It was a great success but the surgery also left her with less mobility than she previously had in regards to twisting and bending that she can never regain. Now, because of the long length of the fusion, it is detrimental to her body to take her wheelchair apart to put it in her car like she used to. The last several months she has been relying on daily outside help to get to appointments and to run errands. A vehicle with a dropped floor and ramp is her need to help her get from place to place independently and move more efficiently. These converted vehicles are quite expensive on top of her out-of-pocket monthly rehabilitation and therapy expenses. She is reaching further into the community for help with raising some of the money to get her through this life challenge and to help her keep moving Straight Up. Her goal is to raise $45,000 to fund a used Honda Element with a WAV Conversion that will last her the next 10-15 years. Thank you!
