San Andreas, CA...The outcome of choosing last year's Vice-Chair Russ Thomas as this years Board Chair was as expected but not without twists and turns. Rumors have been rampant the last week that a palace coup of sorts was afoot to install another supervisor as chair instead of the customary ascension of the Vice-Chair. started hearing about this last week. It made for good gossip but I had serious doubts that it would really come to fruition.
With all of the drama surrounding the board last year I really didn't feel that everyone was actually up for that level of fight and the lingering acrimony that would no doubt follow.
With that said the portion of the meeting that covered the selection of the Board Chair was definitely fireworks laden. If you follow county government and would like to take the pulse of the board this 13 minute clip is certainly for you. It also illustrates why Tuesdays mornings really are "The Show" in Calaveras County. The meetings always have twists and turns and they are the place where all of the county's residents make their pilgrimage to make their voices heard.
