Community Efforts Underway to Help Prospect Motors Reopen
Jackson, CA...At 5:30pm today there will be a community meeting held at Mel & Faye's Diner to plan a rally to save Prospect Motors. Members of the community are being urged to start a letter writing campaign to General Motors and GMAC to get them to reverse their decision on closing the dealerships. In addition to the 80 jobs that were lost there will be a huge fiscal impact on the economy of Amador county in decreased sales tax revenues. Prospect Motors and also their employees patronized many local businesses that will definitely feel the sting of decreased revenues. There is a sense that...

Writers are being urged to mention that owners of GM vehicles will now be forced to travel for dealership work and that small communities need really need local dealerships.
The purpose of the meeting today is to plan a rally to show community support for the dealerships.
