Morris the Cat Needs Your Help!
Calaveras County, CA....The Calaveras Humane Society will be kicking off its Morris Program on December 27, 2009 at Calaveras County Animal Services as part of their monthly Adopt-A-Pet from 9AM to 2PM. Please come by and meet these wonderful cats. Volunteers will be available to introduce you and give you a little background and tell you about the personality of each cat.....
The purpose of the program, named after our poster-cat-of-the-month, is to help find forever homes for the many adult cats now being cared for at Animal Services. In order to facilitate their adoption, the Calaveras Humane Society will pay the adoption fee and Spay/Neuter fee if you adopt an adult cat from Animal Services. All we ask is that you pay for the $12.00 chipping fee that is required by Calaveras County for all animals that are adopted out of the shelter. Most of our cats are not spayed or neutered, so when you adopt a cat, they will have to be fixed before coming home with you. Please come by and meet these wonderful cats. Volunteers will be available to introduce you and give you a little background and tell you about the personality of each cat. Can’t wait until the 27th? Just contact Judy at 795-3466 to make an appointment for a volunteer to meet you at Animal Services. (Due to accounting purposes, a CHS representative must be there for the adoption.)
Along with many other adult cats, Morris came to the shelter from a loving, caring family. Their stories are so sad. Some of the adult cats at the shelter had owners who have passed away, some have been abandoned, and during these difficult times, others had families who had to leave their homes and could not take their pets with them. These special cats end up at Animal Services, confused, scared and wondering "What happened? I was such a good cat. Why am I here?" Our adult cats are healthy, affectionate, and beautiful. It's amazing how they have kept their sweet, sweet personalities, even though some of them have been in confinement for so long. Some have been there for months. As long as there is room, these animals will be safe and remain at Animal Services until we find a home for them. Unfortunately there is only so much room, and so much time. These are the difficulties faced by Animal Services and the Humane Society throughout the year. Volunteers and the staff clean their cages every day of the year, giving them love and keeping them socialized, hoping that someone will come and adopt them and give them a loving, warm forever home.
