Calaveras Big Trees State Park Announces Saturday Snowshoe Tours~Park Video Enclosed by John Hamilton

Big Trees, CA....The staff and docents at Calaveras Big Trees State Park are expanding their 1 p.m. year-round guided Saturday North Grove walks to include snowshoe tours. These tours are also available every Saturdays at 1 p.m. The Park has a limited supply of adults and kids MSR Denali snowshoes available free on a first-come-first-served basis. A California Drivers License or California ID will be necessary to check out the snowshoes. Snowshoes can also be rented at local sporting goods stores in Arnold.....




If you are on a lower speed connection or a Windows Mobile Phone

Interested visitors should meet their guide near the Warming Hut in the North Grove parking lot by 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The tours will last 1 to 2 hours and may be cancelled in case of hazardous weather, trail or road conditions. Call the Ranger Station at 795-2334 or the Visitor Center at 795-7980 on Saturday mornings to be sure the snowshoe walk is scheduled for that day.

After your hike, sit around the fire in the Warming Hut and enjoy complimentary hot chocolate or cider. The Hut is open and staffed on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the winter months.

Bundle up the family in warm winter gear and spend the day at the park enjoying the snow and hospitality of the Warming Hut. The entrance fee is $7.00 per car.
