Samuel Langhorne Clemens was Alive and Well and Speaking in Angels Camp
Angels Camp, CA...Although he reputedly wrote his last story in 1910 you would have never known it. Ole Samuel AKA "Mark Twain" looked amazingly spry for a chap of 175. Mark Twain even rode in the parade before speaking to the assembled crowd at the Angels Camp Museum. He told the group of his upbringing and how he made his way to California to seek his fortune. He talked about frog jumps and even talked a bit about ole Daniel Webster. He talked about how...
Calaveras County and how those frogs really started it all for him.
From here he went on to world wide acclaim and fame and occasionally fortune. Without our little Calaveras County the man that grew into the literary giant of the late 19th century might have never developed
The reincarnated Mark Twain is the striking recreation of The US Forest Service's, Pat Kaunert. So the name might be familiar to those of you have seen his press releases gracing these pages on fires and other information from the Forest Service.
We have about 20 minutes of Pat's, Mark Twain below. Mark Twain will also be a regular at the Angels Camp Museum in 2009.
