A Festive Holiday Open House in Murphys Planned for Friday December 5th....Video Of Last Year's Event Enclosed
Murphys, CA....A festive Holiday Open House featuring strolling carolers, a children’s parade, the lighting of the community Christmas tree, complimentary food and beverages, and the entry into town by Santa and Mrs. Claus will be presented by the Murphys Business Association on Friday, December 5th from 5 to 8 p.m.....
“We feel this is a way for the merchants and other Murphy businesses to give a yuletide gift to the community and to say thanks to locals and visitors alike for their support throughout the year,” states Michelle Plotnik, MBA president.
Main St. will be closed from Sheep Ranch Rd. to Big Trees Rd. to allow people to stroll from store to store, carolers and other performers to entertain the crowd, and the popular children’s parade to take place. The parade, led by Santa and Mrs. Claus will begin at 5:45 p.m. It will wind its ways down Main St. from the historic Murphys Hotel to Big Trees Rd. where it will make a u-turn and finish at the Native Sons Hall.
Anyone wishing to be in the parade should contact Charlie Anderson, owner of the Murphys Village Toy Store, 728-8517.
During the parade, Santa and Mrs. Clause will light the community tree in The Arbors patio and then proceed to the Native Sons Hall where they will greet the youngsters and pose for pictures.
Anyone wishing to volunteer to be a caroler, musician, or other entertainer should contact Gloria Zweers at 728-3991. Volunteers who would like to be part of this festive occasion by helping with decorating and road closure may call Michelle Plotnik at 728-8417 or visit the MBA website, info@visitmurphys.com.
There is no admission charge for the Murphys Holiday Open House. Most Main St. businesses will be open and many will be offering complementary snacks and beverages. Free parking is available at the Black Bart Playhouse, Masonic Hall, and behind the Arbors.
