Building Green in Greenhorn!
Angels Camp, CA...We had the pleasure to take a tour last week of a beautiful new home in Greenhorn Creek. It is a beautiful 3,300 square foot home that is green from the foundation up. Even the siding is Certified Sustainably Harvested Redwood. It has integrated Solar Photovoltaic Tiles in the the roof and a Solar Roof Tile Water system as well. In the new green by design homes going up green homes can be even more esthetically pleasing than conventional construction. This home built by Rob Friend of Spike and Spark Construction you can tell is a labor of love and encompasses all of Rob's goals for the home of tomorrow. It is even completely...
wired for the technology needs of the future as well. We were joking with him that it has enough cabling and jacks built-in that you could run a small high tech firm from the comforts of home. His goal was to anticipate the future needs of the owners and have everything in place for whatever the future might hold.
Even with the High Tech touches the home feels warm and inviting. There is lots of warm beautiful wood to make the home feel natural to be in. The Kitchen Cabinets even incorporate burled wood from Oregon.
Great care was also taken in the positioning of the home on the lot to maximize the views an thermal aspects. This includes the master suite located on the lower level and will stay cool even the warmest summer days with minimal or no cooling. With it's positioning it feels very private underneath the natural oak tree canopy.
This home has a great quality feel to it. It isn't an inexpensive home but it is definitely worth every penny!
We have a nice interview with Rob below and more information can be found at Spike & Spark.com
