October is Breast Cancer Awareness month across america and the color pink and the symbol of a ribbon brings hope to patients who have been diagnosed or have survived breast cancer. "P" is for survival, "I" I will be strong, "N" nothing will stop me, and "K" keeping the faith.

"Those with cancer should celebrate with troubles and opportunities. We bless this county for have the type of medicine we do," shared Roy Sheldon.

The opening greeting was given by Debbie Sellick then followed by Melissa Cuevas who told a wonderful story called Welcome the Rain. The story followed a special pink drinking glass that symbolized hope, fear, pleasure, love, courage, and much more. Inspiring those who have faced breast cancer.

Throughout the luncheon members of the community and hospital shared their stories and were an truly inspiration to 28 people who were in the audience.

Over the past year the hospital and volunteers have been trying to raise 1 million dollars for a digital mammography machine and have shared that they have reached over $850,000 in less than a year. "I support digital mammography 100 percent shared Dr. Oliver of St. Joseph's Hospital.

Calaveras County is truly bless to have such wonderful people who support those with cancer and those who have survived. "Remember, if you have an idea or dream, do it. People are out there and willing to listen," said Debbie Sellick.
