An Evening in Italy, Go Underground With the Club!
Murphys, CA....Zucca Mountain Vineyards, a local Murphys boutique winery, is putting on another fun filled event for the fall. Zucca’s unique approach to the wine club and it’s events is a refreshing twist on the traditional dinner and music evening. Every event that they stage for their wine club includes a great dinner, music, great wine and always some sort of cultural activity promoting the local area and the arts. This event will be one to remember as you get to go underground with the club to resurface in an evening in Italy!....
On Friday October 3rd, the day before Grape Stomp, Zucca invites its members and guests for a evening of wine paired with great Italian food, music, a private tour of the Mercer Caverns and if you don’t feel like descending underground Zucca is staging mini sail boat races and gem mining, but best of all, a vertical tasting of Barbera and Sangiovese throughout four award winning years. The event will be held at the Mercer Caverns’ lovely grounds, just outside of Murphys, on Sheep Ranch road and is limited to wine club members and their guests. Cavern Tour: (optional)
The Mercer caverns, if you have not seen them are a spectacular experience. They are world famous for the rare Aragonite flos ferri, celebrated it’s 100th year of discovery and operation on September 1, 1985. It is the longest continually operating commercial caverns in the state of California. The owners have guest books signed by paying customers - dating back to September of 1885 to present - indicating that visitors were welcome at Mercer Caverns every year since its discovery.. There are quite a few steps, but, every few minutes, there is a stop with a chat about the history and a view of some the most amazing rock formations. In short, it does not feel like you are at the gym and is quite an enjoyable journey. It is nice and cool in the caverns so maybe a light sweater is a recommended, some good shoe that stay on your feet (I nearly lost a flip flop in there) and a camera. There has been a request that participants in the tour, wait until after the tour, to wine taste.

Outside the caverns there is a series of water flues, we will have a contest for two things, the first one to put together their sailboat and then the fastest sailboat on the flue. This is a fun little silly thing to do and revisit our youthful side!

Grab a bag of dirt and see what you find! Emeralds, fossils etc… are there for you to find……Everyone loves to sift through dirt…..

We will be featuring the lovely sounds of *bleep*X name of band, history and style of music.
