Earl J. Ribbit Joins Arnold Rotary Club
Arnold, CA. --Earl B. Ribbit, a member of the famous Painted Frogs of Calaveras County became the newest member of the Arnold Rotary Club in a special ceremony conducted last Thursday at the club’s weekly meeting. In his acceptance speech, Earl stated that he is committed to raising funds for Arnold Rotary’s many service projects at the Painted Frogs’ Annual Gala Auction on October 25th, sponsored by the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce......
Earl, an active community member and a world renown fisher frog became a 2008 member of the famous painted frogs of Calaveras County through the help of his sponsors, Gary and Susan Hauer of Ace Hardware in Arnold. As a member, he and fifteen other frogs are committed to raising funds for local charities through the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce.
The Painted Frogs program began in 2003 and each year they are taken to Frogtown in late October where they are sold to the highest bidder in a Gala Frog Auction, now in its fifth year.
This is yet another exciting moment for Earl B. Ribbit, whose family has a colorful past in Calaveras County. It is rumored that Earl’s ancestor became woven into county history due to his involvement with another famous frog, Daniel Webster as told in Mark Twain’s short story in 1865, titled “The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.”
Earl is currently writing his own short story titled, “The Other Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, The Untold Story” in a hope to forever dispel the rumors that have plagued his family for generations.
