Pioneer Dollar General's Roof Collapses
Pioneer, CA...From Amador Fire earlier this evening..."Amador Fire crews are currently on scene at Dollar General in Pioneer for a roof collapse with no injuries. Crews are working with Dollar General staff and PG&E who are also on scene. Unfortunately, the building is a total loss."

More likely a local meth head who incorrectly installed the same structural connection the whole length of the building.

Put the blame where it belongs, Amador County Building and Plans for allowing flat roofs in the upcountry of the Sierra Nevada Foothills.
Steep pitched roofs that shed most of the snow were the norm from knowledge gained long ago. Bringing in department heads from the flatlands or other states is a big part of the problem. Then there is the question of who got a payoff to approve it.

Nothing to do with the current administration if, in fact, made in China. We've become dependent on Chinese products for decades in this country. If you've built anything in recent years, you'd know we have to throw away about every 3rd or 4th nail as it breaks or bends when hammered. Cheap imports whose costs are passed on to the consumer.

Check the history of the Sierra Nevada and it's Foothills. These weather events you think are such rare drastic events "Climate Change" are nothing new. People of the past only had summer cabins for cow camps with steep roofs in all of these areas. Only a very rare rugged self sustainable hermit type individual would be living in the mountains in winter.
Hurry sell those flat roofed collapsing homes to some other ignorant flatlander.

All life's problems can't be blamed on the Chinese.
Covid.
Economy.
Fentanyl.
Construction.
Social discourse.
Impending invasion.
Dollar General works on low costs vs high volume.
A Dollar General in every town means they were built cheaply and with low quality materials. That's not the fault of the Chinese. That's good old MAGA Capitalism.

Yep. And one look at the remains tells you it was designed/engineered/built on the cheap. Does Dollar General care? Nope, cost of doing business.

Again it’s the storms and snow is Trump and all MAGA fault. Please Ole Joey has been resident of White House for 2 years and 47 years as a career fuk up. Done nothing. Will he send Crackles Kam out for this natural disaster of Chinese based products. Maybe Pete Buttgauge will ride his bike with out a seat through the storm. And do nothing.

The Dollar General store chain wants the some look, which is fine. However, in the high country a peaked roof with a flat facade in front is more appropriate or consider snow-load in the construction.
The one in Arnold is next if they don't clean its roof.

The one in Arnold has been there for decades. It was built as Applewood Market( Now Big Trees Market)it wasnt built as a Dollar General. It also was a Hardwear Store and lighting store before they ever moved in. That roof has stood up to many storms over the years.. Thanks for your ignorance
