Fire Season Disaster declaration, have seen their pool of firefighting equipment and manpower stretched thin and scattered throughout the state.
Due to lack of public water infrastructure, rural firefighting is mainly supported by aircraft and ground crews with water tenders. Having a sustainable pressurized water source is critical to successfully combating structure and wildfires in rural County areas. Last July a fast moving brush fire on the Gassner property, next door to Trinitas, burned 320 acres and forced the evacuation of many nearby residents. Helicopters utilized the ponds on the Trinitas golf course to douse flames while bulldozers and ground crew supported by water tenders fought an aggressive ground campaign to stop the fire. “We nearly lost our home last year in the fire, the Nemee family was there to help save it and I think it’s great that they are putting in fire hydrants for the neighborhood” said Laura Gassner.
Due to quick action, no structures or lives were lost.
Trinitas owners Mike and Michelle Nemee have been anxious to get the hydrants in place, “we are also coming up on the four year anniversary of the Pattisen Fire and I remember driving our water trucks all night bringing water from our ponds to the Hillvale Rd. area to support the firefighters” said Mike Nemee.
The second hydrant is due to be installed in the next few weeks.
