Amador Sheriff's Deputies Help Elderly Couple Avoid Possible Tragic Outcome

Pioneer, CA...On February 1, 2023, at approximately 8:58pm, we received a call requesting a welfare check on an elderly couple in the Pioneer area. The concerned caller advised the elderly couple was not answering their phone and a car horn could be heard sounding from the couple’s residence. Responding deputies located the female inside her vehicle and learned that she was unable to get out due to the icy conditions of her driveway. Additionally, deputies discovered that the male had attempted to make it inside their residence, but he had slipped and fallen due to the ice.

Our deputies were able to safely assist the elderly couple into their residence, where they were checked by medical personnel. Prior to leaving, our deputies brought in their groceries and placed salt on the driveway.

We appreciate the concerned caller notifying us and preventing what could have been a tragic outcome. With the recent cold and icy winter conditions, it’s always a good idea to check on your neighbors!
