The Derby Cars Were Flying In Bear Valley on Saturday ~ By John Hamilton
Bear Valley, CA...The Innaugural Bear Valley Soap Box Derby rolled into action on Saturday. The event benefited the Bear Valley School. There was speed, action, 100 mile an hour tape (Duct Tape), pit crews, spinouts, crashes (Non-Injury of Course), and more. It was NASCAR & Formula One at 7,500ft without motors.... Cooper White leaves the starting line during the Soap Box Derby in Bear Valley on Saturday.
The Bear Valley Parents Group organized and ran the event. This was an open or community event.
Next year they hope to run an officially sanctioned Soap Box Derby. This years event was Officially a Rally or non-sanctioned event. Next year they hope to move up to an Officially Sanctioned Soap Box Derby and continue the event's growth as a regional event.
The course ran down Creek Side Drive and finished up close to the Village Parking lot. We have lot;s of pics and video. Mark Labor Day Weekend on your calendar for next year and get to work on that car.
