Marijuana Eradication in Sawmill Mountain Near Groveland with Street Value of $25,349,250.00

Tuolumne County, CA....On August 28, 2008, Tuolumne Narcotics Team, California Department of Justice CAMP Team and the U.S. Forest Service eradicated, 7, 475 marijuana plants from two separate locations near Sawmill Mountain, located above Groveland off of Highway 120.....

The first grow was in the Soldier Creek area and 4, 037 plants were eradicated. The plants ranged in height from 1-3 feet. No suspects were located, indications at the site lead us to believe the suspects were in the grow as late as this morning. Evidence at the scene indicates this was a Mexican Drug Trafficking Organization Grow. No weapons were found but numerous shotgun shells were found.

The second grow was in the Cherry Creek area and 3438 plants were eradicated. The plants ranged in height from 4-6 feet. No suspects were located. No weapons were located. Evidence at the scene indicates this was a Mexican Drug Trafficking Organization grow.

If these plants had been allowed to grow to maturity, they would have a street value of $2500.00 a piece.

The total number of marijuana plants eradicated in Tuolumne County this year is 101,397. These plants would have had a street value of $25,349,250.00 (twenty five million three hundred forty nine thousand, two hundred and fifty dollars) had they been allowed to mature and were sold on the street.
