Official Press Release on Shooting...."Birthday Party Ends In Shooting"~By Calaveras County Sheriffs Department

Avery, CA.....On Saturday (8-23-08) evening Sheriffs Deputies responded to a reported a shooting at a residence located on Sorrel Way in Avery. The victim Jimmy Wilson, 37, of Avery was shot in the shoulder by his brother Lee, 39 Wilson, 39, of Mountain Ranch with a 25 caliber handgun. Deputies learned the brothers were attending a birthday party for a relative and became involved in an argument. The argument ended when the suspect shot the victim. The suspect fled the...


scene on foot prior to Deputies arriving. It should be noted the suspects 17 year old daughter followed him and was reported missing as well. The 17 year old daughter was later (8-25-08) found at Big Trees State Park unarmed.
The victim was transported by helicopter to a Modesto area hospital where he was treated and released.

A search of the surrounding area for the suspect was conducted by the Sheriff s Office S.W.A.T. team. The suspect was not located.

The suspect Lee Wilson is described as 5' 10", 150 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Wilson was last seen wearing camouflage clothing. Wilson is an avid outdoorsman and should be considered armed and dangerous.
