Brother Shoots Brother in Avery Saturday Night....Assailant Still On The Run as of Monday Morning ~ By John Hamilton (Update The Female Juvenile has Been Located Safe and Sound as of 10:40am this Morning)

Avery, CA...We would like to thank Sgt. Dave Seawell for giving us a call this morning with additional details on last night's shooting in Avery. Early last evening in the 500 Block of Sorrel Rd in Avery an argument developed between James Wilson of Avery and 39 year old Lee Wilson of Mountain Ranch. During the argument Lee Wilson apparently shot James Wilson in the chest with a small caliber handgun. James Wilson was mediflighted to Doctors Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Initial reports are that Lee Wilson fled the residence on foot followed by a female juvenile. As of this morning Lee Wilson is still at large along with the female juvenile. Units from various law enforcement agencies searched the Ebbetts Highlands area and surrounding areas for Mr. Wilson Last night and the search continues today...(Update...As of Monday Morning at 7:30 am the Assailant and Female Juvenile have not been found.)Update...As of 10:40am this morning, they have located what has been confirmed as Lee Wilson's daughter, has been located. Mr. Wilson is still on the run....

James Wilson is in some ways a very lucky man. Initial reports are that after the round entered his chest it lodged in his shoulder muscle area where it could or will be removed fairly easily. Baring complications he is expected to recover from his wounds.

These are still the initial reports and details may change as the investigators finish their work.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wilson Family today. Also according to the Calaveras Sheriff's Department, James Wilson is doing well and may be released today.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of 39 year old Lee Wilson please contact the Calaveras Sheriff's Department at 209.754.6500
