Big Trees Family Day 2008 Draws Close to 2,000 People..... and A Big Thank You to Big Trees!.....We Have Lots of Pictures & Video
Big Trees State Park, CA...Close to 2,000 people made the 2008 Family Day a huge success on Saturday. They enjoyed the Epic Trees, Bowling, Face Painting, Wagon Rides, Music, Fire Trucks, Snakes, Lizards, Crafts, Art, Hiking and did we mention the trees? We have lots of pictures and video too. We also received a nice note from Big Trees Family Day coordinator Jane Henning Childress thanking those in the community who helped make the 2008 Family Day one of the best. for their generous support with our annual Family Day at Calaveras Big Trees State Park (Aug.16th). There are many people who really shared their expertise and I'd like to acknowledge and thank the following: The Ebbetts Pass Moose Lodge, Nancy Longmore and the Calif. Dept. of Forestry with "Smokey," providing interpretation about fires with whom hundreds of kids had their picture taken, Ebbetts Pass Fire and their fire Engine, Mike Sutton with his reptiles and Amphibians, David Gayneaux for his artwork, Gold Electric, Mike Taylor at the Calaveras Enterprise, The Union Democrat, ThePineTree.net, George Cook and the Calaveras Fly Fishing Association, Linkline Transportation, the Great Mother Lode Brass and Reed Band, the Star Gazers-Denise Combs and Frank Gault, Jim Mori and the butterflies, Juggler Holly Johnston, Rich and Diane Jones and their Birds of Prey, Fred Velasquez with Miwok Culture, Storytellers extraordinaire Mark and Bear Dyken, Earline and Stan Smith of Peppermint Creek Carriage Company, face painter Katie Delgado, printer Dennis Pinion, Girl Scout Troop 1244, Arnold Subway, Northern Calif. Power Assoc., Sierra Hills Market, Big Trees Market, Artisists of Bear Valley, our wonderful camp hosts-Betsy and Jerry Robinson, and all the helpful and energetic docents, volunteers, staff, Rangers, and Calaveras Big Trees Association members of Calaveras Big Trees State Park. You have all made the event a fun, educational and memorable day!
