Why haven't any of our the local school districts purchased bulletproof backpacks or inserts for our school children?
The kids are sitting ducks.

Stupid response to a social issue that isn't going to go away.

Hell I remember a bunch of us kids in our one room school bringing in demilled .50 BMG cartridges and lining them up on the pencil groove on the desk. No big thing. Circa 1950 Oswegatchie school district #17.

If our society continues as it has, will be on the list of back to school supplies for families.

Seriously, you need to take a closer look at school budgets. At some point, families need to provide what they school kids need.

If they can provide laptops for each child, why can't they provide lifesaving body armor?
      Dead kids, never learn.

I agree. When kids reach the schoolyard, they should be required to don full protective body armor before entering the class room. Maybe something akin to a Knights armor would work?

No, something more like a full body condom.

Maybe a kid just wanted out of class for awhile.
Back in the day, when I was young, the whole school evacuated every classroom when a bomb threat was called in.
That, effectively stopped schooling for at least one period, while staff cleared the 'threat.'
For those who did it, it was a good way to skip a class you didn't want to be in.
