Calaveras Artists will Open their Studios for Public Touring last Saturday of September

Calaveras County, CA....Artists will welcome you into their studios this fall during the Calaveras Artists Open Studio Tour. Presented by the Calaveras County Arts Council, this third annual event will provide a rare opportunity to meet and converse with artists in their workplaces for an up close and personal look at their creative processes, while taking in the beautiful fall landscape of this rural “Gold Country” region.....

During the event on Saturday and Sunday, September 27 and 28, visitors will have a chance to view and enjoy a vast variety of visual expression, including painting, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, glass, fiber arts, pottery, and many more unique and creative one-of-a-kind works of art. About 40 professional artists are participating.

The studio experiences are made for sharing with family and friends as you wind your way through rural backroads of rolling hills and oaks and pines.

Make it a vacation weekend enjoying all the things Calaveras has to offer…Big Trees State Park, caves, “Gold Rush” towns of Murphys and Angels Camp, Mokelumne Hill, Arnold, fine restaurants, premium wineries. Many choices also exist for staying overnight during your studio tours.

Each day of the Tour, studios will be open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, a great opportunity to purchase original fine arts and crafts for yourself or as gifts. Many artists are nationally and internationally known. Included are James Aarons, Megan Aguilar, Mary Anderson, Kathleen Ball, Kevin Brady, Jane Brown, Judie Cain, Kathleen Canning, Cate Culver, Linda DeLaurenti, Sarah Evans, Lura Francis, Marchand Heimann, Marilyn Thomas Hinsdale, Kate Frederick, Galen Hazelhofer, Peggy Huth, Lori Kelly, Susan King, Debra Lawlor, Ann Nancy Macomber, Oma Mauer, Ruth Morrow, Sumiko Mancinelli, John McDaniel, Pam Munn, Karen O’Neill, Bambi Papais, The Painter Sisters, Pamela Quyle, Margaret Roberts, Maren Sampson, Helen Scofield, Elaine Staben, Terri Strunck, Sarah Switek, Joani Taylor, Janet and Andy Trinkle, Martha Wallace, and Ken Winebrenner. Some artists will be sharing their studios for the ones who are too remote. There will be something for everyone.

Admission to the Calaveras Artists Open Studio Tour will cost $10 per person. Once paid, guests will receive a Passport which will be the entry ticket. The Passport includes maps and a description and photo that represents each artist’s artwork. To receive the Calaveras Artists Open Studio Tour Directory, send a check payable to the Calaveras County Arts Council to P.O. Box 250, San Andreas, CA 95249. Passports will then be mailed out.

By the end of August, additional Calaveras locations of where to buy the Passport will be on the Arts Council’s website, www.calaverasarts.org. If you do not purchase Passporst in advance, they will still be available from local businesses on Tour days. For more information, call (209)754-1774.
