Leslie Paul Kaiser 1951 ~ 2022

Wilseyville, CA... Leslie Paul Kaiser, July 31, 1951 ~ June 8, 2022 (age 70) Leslie Paul Kaiser, our brother, uncle and friend passed away Wednesday June 8th, 2022. He was the first baby boy born at the new Loyalton, California hospital on July 31st, 1951, where he joined his two brothers Mike and George.



In 1957 he moved with the family to Lily Gap logging camp, outside West Point, CA. He attended West Point Elementary where he met his lifelong friend Don Maben.

At Calaveras High School he excelled at football and wrestling. Achieving the rank of ninth in the nation for high school wrestling as a junior. After graduating in 1969 he went on to study and continue his athletics at Sacramento City College. Sports and competition remained an important of his life. He was a boxing champion, rugby player, stock car racer, Bull of the Woods champion, and played many years of softball as a great lefthanded pitcher and played on many teams with his good friend and co-worker Mike Padilla.

He also enjoyed coaching his sister's softball teams and rarely missed any of his nephews many sporting events, being known as "Uncle Les" to many teams. He was active in organizing many a Lumberjack Days Celebration in West Point, CA.

Leslie enjoyed all these activities while building a wonderful career at the Sacramento Bee, where he worked for 30 plus years, winning numerous achievement and service excellence awards while mentoring many.

Moving back to the family home in Wilseyville, CA after retirement meant many days of golfing, keeping horses, mini horses and watching the turkeys, deer and other wildlife from his deck.

He enjoyed golf trips to Plumas County and Hawaii with friends and gold prospecting in the desert with his dear friend BJ.

Les is survived by his sisters Debbie and Becky Deini of Portola, CA and Stephanie Deini Carr and her Husband John Carr of Beckworth, CA. Nephews and nieces Brian, Barbara, Mercy, Michael, Wendy Nicholas, Liane, Vinny and Laes.

He also had eleven great nieces and nephews and eight great great nieces and nephews with two more on the way!

He was proceeded in death by his loving parents Tilio and Tonie Deini, his brothers Mike and George and his nephews Michael Kaiser and Caleb Texler.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW hall in West Point, CA on Saturday June 25th, 2022, at 1:00 P.M.

In remembrance, contributions ca be made to the West Point Scholarship Fund or th Calaveras High School Wrestling Program.
