Calaveras Tax Payers Association had them Zipping into Moaning Caverns Last Night~ By John Hamilton

Vallecito, CA...The hilltop setting at Moaning Caverns played host to a fund-raiser for the Calaveras County Taxpayers. Jon Coupal, president of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, County Auditor/Controller Linda Churches spoke as well. The great dinner was provided by Ken Churches', Award Winning, Motherlode Catering. A good sized crowd was on hand as well as some distinguished attendees including Dana Jorgensen from Senator Dave Cox's Office, Calaveras County CAO Bob Lawton, Former County Supervisors, Supervisor Tom Tryon and numerous members of the business community.were also in attendance. This fledgling group seems to really be picking up speed....

Moaning Cavern's Steve Fairchild loads up his plate and part of the group last night.

From the CCTA Website "The Calaveras County Taxpayers Association (CCTA) is a network of volunteers who care about the wise use of your tax dollars and maintaining good government. Sadly, there are thousands of special interest groups, including government itself, dedicated to expanding government and raising your taxes at all levels.

The situation need not be hopeless. The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, by working to pass Proposition 13, saved $528 billion dollars in excess taxation for property owners alone!

There are over 35,000 property owners in Calaveras County. It is very important that the Taxpayers Association has a membership base as large as possible in order to have a strong voice representing you. That is the reason for our low membership dues and unique Member Business Discount Program.

We have looked at other local taxpayer groups and most have a small membership with high dues. The massive tax spending lobby seems to run over these good people like a stampeding herd of cattle over a few jack rabbits. If only 10% of Calaveras property owners join their Taxpayers Association, it is possible to have 3,500 members receiving Tax Alert emails and acting as one voice.

When we reach our goal of 3,500 members, we will have a program that every county in California could copy. But that’s not all. With the help of the National Taxpayers Union, who helped us, our program can be duplicated in every county in America!

Fellow jack rabbit, it is time to take action. Please join the Calaveras County Taxpayers Association today."
