Copperopolis Town Square to Welcome Renner Winery, Firefall Jewelers and Panini's Italian Grill

Copperopolis, CA... Castle & Cooke, purveyor of high-end resort, residential communities and commercial centers, announces that Renner Winery, Firefall Jewelers and Panini’s Italian Grill have signed tenant leases and are scheduled to open in August, September and October, respectfully. A number of other businesses, including Coho’s (coffee house and wine bar), Rising Loafer (restaurant and bakery), and Copper Shell (gas/carwash/convenience mart) are slated to open throughout the remainder of the summer and fall. These eateries, specialty shops and service providers will join Copper Proper (home....

accessories), Eve (women’s apparel/accessories), Twigz (flowers and gifts), Fancy Pans (kitchen and patio accessories), and Cruisers (ice cream parlor and hotdogs) in burgeoning Copperopolis Town Square.

“Copperopolis Town Square has reached critical mass in the number and variety of stores and services available to area residents and regional tourists,” says Dave Haley, Vice President of Castle & Cooke. “From eateries to boutique shops, it provides a unique retail experience in a setting with a sense of history, place and scale.”

Just two years after breaking ground, Copperopolis Town Square is nearing a major milestone. The finishing of the nine buildings around the town square will mark the end of Phase I and signal that the innovative retail/residential project is one-third complete. At build out, Copperopolis Town Square will house 21 buildings, 95 businesses and 40 residential lofts encompassing 233,000 square-feet.

Its rustic skyline – right off California Highway 4 in the Central Sierra – provides a visually-stunning backdrop for the millions of motorists en route between the points west (Sacramento, San Jose and the Bay area) and the Sierra Nevada to the east. Additionally, Copperopolis Town Square is attracting visitors from other foothill towns while providing Copperopolis with its own cultural, retail and residential town center.

About Copperopolis Town Square: A New Town with an Historic “Back Story”

Copperopolis Town Square is a brand new town with deeply-rooted historical underpinnings. Developed by Castle & Cooke and designed by Rudy Ortega, it is a fresh approach to retail and residential that integrates historical awareness, environmental sensitivity and architectural appreciation into a country town setting. At its core is a neo-traditional urban design philosophy that emphasizes pedestrian-oriented retail and pedestrian-friendly streetscapes that create a socially interactive user experience. The architecture is reminiscent of the mid and late 1800s, capturing the essence of the Sierra foothills gold country and creating a sense of place that is missing from so many retail centers in the U.S.

Copperopolis Town Square features a wide selection of boutique retail shops and unique businesses not found in other Northern California towns or commercial centers. An eclectic mix of one-of-a-kind stores, fine-dining and convenience restaurants and art galleries has the potential to attract visitors from throughout the state. A specialty grocery, charming boutique inns and a regional medical center will serve those on extended stays as well as the town and local residents.

Second floor offices and “for sale” residential lofts are available for lease and purchase. Street-focused storefronts ensure that each tenant receives the maximum amount of exposure from both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Benches, native trees and building roof extensions provide comfortable “lingering” environments for shoppers and visitors, while wide sidewalks and on-street parking provide easy access to stores by patrons.

On- and off-street parking, wide sidewalks with building roof extensions covering most of the store front and landscape planting and rest areas will give the feeling of a true 19th century downtown. And the Sawmill Lake neighborhood, to be developed along Sawmill Lake by the town’s scenic western edge, will feature numerous residential options within walking distance of the town.

Unique to Copperopolis Town Square and paying homage to its historical roots, each building has a “back story” that creates a sense of the town having evolved over a long period of time. An“old firehouse” will become the community bank. The remnant of the “old town hall” will be converted for retail and residential uses. And the “old mercantile” will eventually be the home of a new specialty grocery store. The “old courthouse” will morph into a charming boutique Inn, and an “original school house” will provide the town with medical services. Once completed, Copperopolis Town Square will have emerged as a historically sensitive and unpretentious town center where residents and visitors alike can come to work, live, and play.

Orientation

Located off California Highway 4 just four miles from the 900-acre, Castle & Cooke-owned Saddle Creek Resort, Copperopolis Town Square is conveniently positioned between the Bay Area to the west and the abundant outdoor and adventure opportunities of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range to the east. It is approximately two hours from San Francisco, 1.5 hours from Sacramento and 45 minutes from Modesto and Stockton. The historic towns of the “Mother Lode” – Angels Camp, Sonora and Murphys are just minutes away.
