97 New Covid Cases & Another Death in Amador County

Amador County, CA...Amador County Public Health reports 97 more individuals with COVID-19 since last Tuesday’s update, of whom 82.5% were unvaccinated. The cases include 26 children under the age of 18 years, 39 age 18-49, 13 age 50-64, and 19 age 65 and above. Since January 1, 2021, confirmed cases of COVID-19 total 1,745. There are currently 124 active cases. Investigation has also confirmed 1 additional death due to COVID-19: a male in his 70s. The County website now includes an epi curve bar graph representing Amador county resident cases. The vaccines continue to be very effective at preventing serious illness and death. Of the eleven (8 Amador residents and 3 from other counties) patients hospitalized locally with COVID-19, only one was fully vaccinated. Statewide, there is more than a 10-fold increased risk of hospitalization and nearly a 15-fold increased risk of death among people who are unvaccinated.

No-cost COVID-19 testing continues to be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 7 am until 7 pm. Please register for testing at the lhi.care website or by calling 1-888-634-1123. OptumServe will accommodate walk-ins on a limited basis if space is available. Masks are required at the testing site located at the rear entrance of the Health and Human Services building, 10877 Conductor Blvd, Sutter Creek. Anyone who is exhibiting symptoms, even fully vaccinated individuals, should isolate and be tested.

This week, COVID vaccine pop up clinics will be held:
• Thursday, September 23rd, 9 am to noon at Pokerville Market, 18170 CA-49, Plymouth
• Friday, September 24th, 10 am to 2 pm at Payless- IGA Market, 26560 CA-88, Pioneer
• Tuesday, September 28th, 9 am to noon at Rombauer Vineyards, 12225 Steiner Road, Plymouth
Pfizer, Moderna and the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine will be offered at each pop-up site. No appointment is necessary.

To view the calendar of upcoming outreach clinics, visit the Amador COVID-19 Vaccine Information webpage. Public Health also offers vaccines by appointment and to homebound individuals. Appointments may be scheduled by calling (209) 223-6407. COVID-19 vaccine is also available at local pharmacies. Visit the vaccines.gov website for more information. Over 38,500 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to Amador residents to date.
