Amador COVID-19 Update
Amador County, CA... Amador County Public Health reports 17 more cases of COVID-19 since last Tuesday’s update, bringing the total laboratory confirmed case count to 1,838. The new cases include 12 males and 5 females, 12 aged 18-49, 2 aged 50-64, 3 age 65 and above; 7 residing in Ione, 1 living in Jackson, 1 in Pioneer 2 living in Plymouth/surrounding areas, and 6 residing in Sutter Creek/Amador City. No Amador residents are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19.
As of last week, those who are fully vaccinated do not need to physically distance or wear a face covering indoors except in limited settings, in alignment with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. Social distancing and capacity limits for businesses and community events have been eliminated. New signage is available on the Amador County Signage Resources website. Additionally last week, the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (more commonly known as Cal/OSHA) revised their standards for workplaces after voting to allow fully vaccinated workers to be unmasked in the workplace and updated their Frequently Asked Questions reference document. The updated standards became effective immediately.
Amador Public Health will be offering COVID-19 vaccine at pop-up outreach clinics. The first outreach clinic is scheduled for tomorrow, June 23, 2021 at the Pine Grove Upcountry Community Center from noon to 4 pm, offering Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccine. Check the Amador Vaccine Information website for future clinics. Homebound individuals may schedule a nurse home-visit vaccination appointment by calling Amador Public Health at (209) 223-6407.
Over 32,700 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to Amador residents to date. 60.3% of eligible Amador County residents, age 12 and over, have had at least one dose of vaccine and over 14,500 are fully vaccinated. If you missed your second dose appointment there are multiple options for COVID-19 vaccination within the county and surrounding areas. To find a COVID-19 vaccine appointment at nearby pharmacies, visit the Vaccines.gov website. The map is searchable by vaccine brand and zip code. Jackson CVS, Safeway, Walgreens, and Walmart pharmacies are all offering COVID-19 vaccine by appointment. Vaccine appointments are scheduled via their respective websites. Residents may also reach out to their health care provider to inquire if vaccine is available within their health care system.
Amador County residents and visitors are encouraged to do their part in order to stay safe and stay open. Please wear a face covering in public if you are not fully vaccinated. Stay home if you feel sick. The COVID-19 vaccines are effective in preventing infection, disease, and spread. Unvaccinated persons are more likely to get infected and spread the virus. All who wish to be immunized should make a vaccination appointment by visiting the My Turn website or the Vaccines.gov website.
