State Officials Urge Californians to Stay Cool, Conserve Energy During Heat Wave

CA...A heat wave is forecasted for much of the state starting Wednesday, June 16 through Saturday, June 19. The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) asks Californians to stay safe as the extreme temperatures will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses for vulnerable populations and those who work outdoors. In addition, a Flex Alert has been issued for consumers to conserve energy on Thursday, June 17 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. It’s important to limit the use of air conditioning, electric car charging, and other energy-intensive technology. An initial list of statewide cooling centers: https://news.caloes.ca.gov/counties-open-cooling-centers-during-june-2021-heat-wave/

I can't wait, they're expecting 3 times the rolling brown outs to hit us this year. I hope those with electric cars to keep you batteries topped off. I guess when nothing but electric cars are sold in CA we'll have this electric grid all settled. Along with the 1,000 new reservoirs for water storage, and our Hydroelectric energy needs. Pfff, we can always take the bullet train if that fails. Or fill up our old gas guzzling cars with $8 to $12 a gallon gas from Iran.
Thanks to the dumpacraps.

Pg&e aka 'the power Nazis" charge 80% more per kilowatt than the rest of the country yet they shut the power off like a 3rd world country. Use the money to fix your *bleep* instead of lining your pockets.. #*bleep*pg&e

If you're being honest, these scenarios have been coming a long time. Americans are pigs when it comes to electricity, vehicles and their dependency on fossil fuels. Too many living in our forests and deserts where electricity and water are expensive to bring in thought we expect these resources to magically be there with a flip of switch or the turn of a faucet. We also don't want to pay for any other possibilities but likely climate change is going to make that moot. Climate change being a reality that few Republicans have yet to acknowledge.

This is what Newsom has to say through his OES?

The Governors Office of Emergency Services

IS NOT ANYONE ELSE HERE AT LEAST ANGERED BY THIS?

This is the very first day of this year we are having a small heat wave, with many more heat waves coming.

I am just enraged watching this obese, swollen tongue, over consuming slob telling us to stop consuming basic normal everyday use of household electricity. Yet everywhere in this state something is being built to add to the problem. Sacramento passed a rule that new building can only be electric, no more natural gas there. Sleep Train Arena will now be torn down and a giant hospital built on it's grounds. California wants all cars and homes to be electric, even setting mandates with no grid to support it.

On top of that hotels/motels are being filled with people mentally ill and people who refuse to work. Each room running air conditioners full blast, tv and gaming devices running all day. Food, drugs and more delivered to them everyday. Other states are stopping this program along with the extra unemployment checks. Where do you think those people will be going? They are coming here for us to take care of them, giving them all the free stuff Newsom is handing out.

The people we have in hotels/motels need to be moved to less populated states that have water and electricity to take care of them. We should be paying another state to build a mental asylum to house the mentally ill. It would give a poorer state jobs taking care of them. Build a factory and housing to put these people to work in a state needing jobs and population. Make these lazy people contribute something for the tax payer money they consume.

Illegals and tourists are allowed in to consume electricity and water while we the tax paying residents are being rationed.

Electricity, water and fire are our most critical emergency right now in California. Not one new building, nor one more business can or should be added, as each of them will make the emergency greater and more dangerous than it already is.

WHAT THE HELL IS NEWSOM DOING TO FIX THIS?

He is telling us to sit in our blackened out homes sweating and doing nothing. WTF!

RECALL THIS BSTRD!!

Recall this BSTRD: what world are you in?? He’s already recalled. That is the problem with voting these losers into office. You democrats are so narrow minded, always a day late and a dollar short!! Wake up.

You may have noticed that even those precious states like Nevada and Arizona that so many Trumpers are trying to escape to are suffering in this heat. Climate change is with us, my friend. And you can't blame Newsom for a public that has long been dependent on fossil fuels and refuses to pay for alternatives. Lake Oroville can't even turn on its hydroelectric power today because water levels are so low. And to the other poster who's still believing our governor will be impeached - perhaps 20% are with you, closely aligning with Trump supporters. Yet this election will cost us ~$215M because you can't accept true democracy and the rule of a majority.
