Amador COVID-19 Update

Amador County, CA... Amador County Public Health reports 12 more cases of COVID-19 since last Tuesday’s update, bringing the total laboratory confirmed case count to 1,821. The new cases include 6 males and 6 females, 7 aged 18-49, 3 aged 50-64, 2 age 65 and above; 4 residing in Ione, 2 living in Jackson, and 6 living in Plymouth/surrounding areas.

Yesterday, June 15, 2021 California enters the Beyond the Blueprint framework. This framework aligns California with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) masking guidance for the general public. Capacity restrictions and physical distancing requirements have been lifted statewide. The California travel advisory has also been lifted in accordance with CDC’s Travel Guidelines. A new California Public Health Officer Order was issued which supersedes previous orders and details the Beyond the Blueprint guidance. State Face Covering Guidance, Face Covering Questions and Answers (Q&A), and Fact Sheet documents have also been published reflecting the Beyond the Blueprint changes moving forward. As of
today, June 15th, those who are fully vaccinated do not need to physically distance or wear a face covering indoors except in limited settings.

The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (more commonly known as Cal/OSHA) is meeting Thursday to discuss standards for workplaces moving forward. As of today, employers are subject to the Cal/OSHA COVID-19 Prevention Emergency Temporary Standards (ETS), if applicable to them.

Amador has made significant progress over the last six months in vaccinating individuals. Over 32,400 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to Amador residents to date. 59.6% of eligible Amador
County residents, age 12 and over, have had at least one dose of vaccine and over 14,300 are fully vaccinated. If you missed your second dose appointment there are multiple options for COVID-19 vaccination within the county and surrounding areas. To find a COVID-19 vaccine appointment at nearby pharmacies, visit the Vaccines.gov website. The map is searchable by vaccine brand and zip code. Jackson CVS, Safeway, Walgreens, and Walmart pharmacies are all offering COVID-19 vaccine by appointment. Vaccine appointments are scheduled via their respective websites. Residents may also reach out to their health care provider to inquire if vaccine is available within their health care system.

Amador County residents and visitors are encouraged to do their part in order to stay safe and stay open. The COVID-19 vaccines are effective in preventing infection, disease, and spread. Unvaccinated persons are more likely to get infected and spread the virus. All who wish to be immunized should make a vaccination appointment by visiting the My Turn website or the Vaccines.gov website. The next Public Health COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be this Friday, June 18th, 2021 from 9 am to 1 pm at the rear entrance of the Health and Human Services building. More information may be found on the Amador Vaccine Information website.
