First Annual Murphys-Angels Lions Club Classic Car Show ~By Hanna Alldrin (We have great photos of every car!)
Angels Camp, CA....The Murphys-Angels Lions Club has been raising money for our community for over 50 years. This weekend the Lions held the first ever classic car show in the Sports Complex Parking Lot at Bret Harte High School. The classic car show had over 120 entries of old classic cars that were from 1972 and earlier. Each entry was charged a $15 fee that raised funds for the Bret Harte Sports Complex. $1,800 from car entries alone. Along with venders and food sponsors. Some of the classic old cars included a 1966 dark blue Ford Mustang, 1954 Ford Bronco and much more. Some Jeeps that were showed were dated back as far as WWII.
After all of the cars were lined up for showing the the Foothill Classics Car Club judged the cars in 10 different categories. The categories included: furthest traveled, club affiliation, best under construction, best special interest, best truck, best interior, best paint, best stock, best custom, best street rod, and best stock antique.
"We are hoping to raise $5,000 for the Bret Harte Sports complex, specifically the pool construction and the completion of the baseball fields," shared event coordinator Terry Costa. The show was a big success and the Lions achieved their goal, "to get the community involved with local sports and schools," shared Terry.
