FIREWORKS SAFETY~By Lisa Williams of CAL Fire

San Andreas, CA.... As the 4th of July approaches, CAL FIRE’s Tuolumne Calaveras Unit (TCU) would like to remind you to be careful with fireworks. In Tuolumne County, ALL fireworks, including Safe and Sane, are prohibited by county ordinance. In Calaveras County, all fireworks are prohibited in the Ebbetts Pass Fire Protection District and Central Calaveras Fire & Rescue Protection District (Hathaway Pines, Avery, Arnold, Dorrington, Mountain....

Ranch, Sheep Ranch, Railroad Flat, and Glencoe). In Angels Camp, Safe and Sane fireworks are allowed only on private property or in the parking lot across the street from the Sporting Complex at Bret Harte High School on Murphys Grade Road. Fireworks are not permitted in any public parks, parking lots or along any roadways in Calaveras County.

Fireworks such as firecrackers, bottle rockets, and other fireworks which are not sold at permitted fireworks stands are illegal to have, sell, or use. CAL FIRE will be out patrolling in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties. Persons caught with illegal fireworks will be cited and prosecuted. Consequences for possession of illegal fireworks range from misdemeanor citation to felony arrest.

Have a safe and sane 4th of July. Be fire safe.
