Dodge Charger vs Logging Truck Collision Leads to Major Injuries & DUI Arrest
Sonora, CA...On May 11, 2021, at approximately 9:40am, 56-year-old Scott Mahoney of Jamestown was driving a Dodge Charger northbound on Mill Villa Road, approaching State Route 108. At that same time, 60-year-old Anthony Forret of Murphy’s was driving his 2017 Peter Built truck, hauling a piggy backed logging trailer eastbound on State Route 108, west of Mill Villa at approximately 45-50 miles per hour. Mr. Mahoney failed to stop at the posted stop sign and traveled directly into the path of Mr. Forret’s vehicle. As a result, the right front of Mr. Forret’s vehicle crashed into the left side of Mr. Mahoney’s vehicle. Mr. Mahoney sustained major injuries and was flown to Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
Mr. Forret did not sustain any injuries as a result of the crash. It was determined that Mr. Mahoney was driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and placed under arrest. Due to his injuries, he was released to the care of the hospital. Both the drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash and the traffic in in the area was affected for approximately 50 minutes.
